Selnate International School’s main objective is to prepare students to succeed in academic, business, or general settings in the United States. We provide 20 hours of classes each week. The courses last 14 weeks and are held 4 days a week. If you need the TOEFL or IELTS, we will get you there in as little time as possible. If you just want to learn English as your second language, or to improve your English, we can do that too. Let us help you realize your goals!
In both ESL Prep and Level 1 students are low-beginning where students learn the alphabet, numbers, easy grammar concepts, pronunciation, essential vocabulary, and simplified reading skills.
Level 2 students add to their basic English skills with more difficult grammar and reading skills as they increase their vocabulary and move from writing sentences into simple paragraphs.
By the time students are placed in Level 3 (high beginning), they have will have mastered the first 2000 most frequent English words, simple grammar concepts, writing and mechanical skills, have a good grasp of pronunciation rules, and successfully read novels and stories. These skills help students succeed in the Intermediate Level 4 and TOEFL Level 5 classes.
By level 4 students have mastered basic tasks and are starting to cover more complex material, that tends to be more academic in nature. Students are working on more complex grammar structures, mastering the first 3,000 most frequent words. They are reading changing from novels to complex academic readings, and preparing speeches and presentations. Students will also start to prepare for taking college entrance exams like the TOEFL or IELTS.
